Face it: a Deadpool movie starring Ryan Reynolds isn't likely. Reynolds just has too much going on right now and, if these projects pan out, they'll probably tie up the next 10 years of his life. And if they fail ... well, that won't exactly help the prospects of a Deadpool film, will it?
Reynolds is still talking about the proposed Deadpool film, though, which will probably go a long way toward keep development afloat until another lead can be found. Here's what he had to say to the Los Angeles Times about the tone of unlikely project:
“It goes in such a different direction than a superhero movie usually goes,” Reynolds said over lunch recently at 101 Coffee Shop. “It’s a nasty piece of work. It’s just based in so much emotional filth, completely. It’s like ‘Barfly‘ if it were a superhero movie. It sort of treads into the world of an emotionally damaged person. I always say that Deadpool is a guy in a highly militarized shame spiral…. It’s so different than the superhero movies to date, it departs so far from that.”Read the rest of the interview here.
