Lego Sniper Rifle

Here's something billed as a "working" Lee Enfield sniper rifle ... made of Lego blocks. While it's not exactly equipped for wetwork in Afghanistan, your kubrock figures might have reason to lose sleep. From the website:

This rifle has a sniper scope, bi-pod stand and 2 8-round magazines. The stand is collapsible and detachable and clips onto the front of the barrel. When it collapses the legs are parallel with the barrel.
The sniper scope looks authentic, but when you aim with it you actually look through a small hole underneath the scope, as I couldn't make the actual scope hollow.

Video below of the rifle in action:

Disney/Star Wars Mash Up

When the Hypno-Pimp sent me a link titled Disney/Star Wars Mash Up, my blood ran a little cold. I've already seen Disney buy up Marvel Comics ... was Lucasfilm in their sites, too?

Turns out the answer is probably no. At least this time. The Pimp was just sending me a link to a deviantART page for someone named Ceth Stife who has created a lot of different Disney-themed Star Wars art. Goof Maul is just a small sample of Ceth's work, which you can find here.

Spellcasting Soda

Here's a tip from Patrick over at Stabbing Stabbing Stabbing: limited-edition Dungeons & Dragons "Spell Casting Soda" from Jones — now officially the greatest soda company in the known world!

Jones has different packs available, including flavors like Potion of Healing and Eldrich Blast. If only they could have worked in a reference to Gary Gygax in there somewhere ...

Still, I'm going to have a hard time not drinking these from my light-up Lord of the Rings goblets from Burger King.

Care for a chocolate chip nightmare?

I'm not someone who eats a lot of cookies, but would gladly change my eating habits to accommodate this incredible Alien-themed cookie jar. Brought to you by Comic Fusion, it's a ceramic Japanese import that you can use to hold a violent, face-raping monster. Or cookies, if that's what you're into.

Colesterol: the REAL
villain of Star Wars

It's apparently Star Wars Days at G4L. Above is an image of an AT-AT made entirely of bacon. And if that description doesn't blow your mind, here's a description from the creator:

"The Bacon AT-AT was actually what I wanted to build before, but didn't have enough time, so it seemed like the natural choice."

The odds of those words appearing together on the same sentence are 725 to 1. The fact that they follow the basic rules of grammar multiply those odds by 1,000,000.

Galactic Empire State of Mind

Darth Vader is currently showing a new side of her personality over at College Humor. They don't allow embedding (or I'm too stupid to figure out the code) so follow the purdy colored text and check it out.

It's official: the barrier between fantasy and reality has fallen

No story would ever do this photo justice, but if you must ... head over here.
There's also a photo of the prez with Slimer, which is odd because I heard he'd retired from the business. Or maybe that was Rick Moranis. I forget.

Unreasonably strange Spanish Alan Moore parody

I actually cringed when he tore a page out of the comic and ate it. Not sure if that's a knee-jerk reaction to many years spent caring for comics, or if it reminded me a little too much of Red Dragon.

And my heart grew three sizes larger that day ...

Not sure where this photo originated, but I want to take it behind the woodshed and do naughty things to it/with it. And then I'd see how the photo felt about a three-way with this bit of artwork:

No matter who wins, we all lose

Here's a link from the Hypno Pimp: a classic children's tale we all should have grown up with, called Alien Vs. Pooh. Warning: you will see a teddy bear wearing panties.

Steampunk Star Wars

Here's a link from the Hypno-Pimp: Outland Armor's steampunk Star Wars costumes.
I've seen a lot of steampunk Star Wars art over the years, but most of that was relegated to artwork and custom action figures.  This might be the first devoted effort I've seen to render a steampunk vision of Star Wars via costumes and flesh and blood humans.

I had some problems connecting to the photo albums at their website, but the group's Facebook fanpage has lots of great images. This merry band of outlaws seems to have a sense of humor that is sometimes missing from the various cosplay folks you see at conventions. I once had a guy dressed as a Ghostbuster get all pissy when I took his photo, which wasn't the response I expected.

There's a joke here somewhere involving Outland Armor and the Outlandos d'Amour album by The Police, but damned if I can find it right now.

Princess Toadstool
Done Me Wrong

Somebody calling themselves NESharmonica has found a novel use for old Nintendo Entertainment System cartridges, beyond the obvious solution of actually playing them: convert the cases into harmonicas.

It seems like a logical progression, especially for anyone who ever had to blow into these things to clean out the dust. Unfortunately, NESharmonica underestimated the demand for geek fetishes and is currently sold out. A note at the website (SEE HERE) mentions that he plans to convert Goonies 2, Top Gun, Duck Hunt, Knight Rider, Wrestlemania, Skate or Die into harmonicas.

The good news is that some intrepid geek has created a tutorial explaining how you can make one of these things yourself.

I want to record an entire album of blues songs using just the NES harmonica. It would be a concept album about a valiant plumber who slays dragons and rescues princesses from giant gorillas. It might even have a snapping turtle or two.

The Scare-ening

So, anyone else planning to listen to The Scare-ening this week?

Stacie Ponder and Heidi Martinuzzi kick off their weekly podcast/radio show on Blog Talk Radio starting Wednesday at 8 p.m. PST (that's 11 p.m. for those of us on the east coast.)

Here's the write up from Blog Talk Radio:
"Journalists Stacie Ponder (Final Girl) and Heidi Martinuzzi (Pretty-Scary.net) entertain you with stimulating horror,sci-fi, and cult film news and reviews, weird guests, inappropriate ideas, funny stories, and swearing. Callers welcome.

"Stacie and Heidi reflect on February 2010's 'Women in Horror Month'; Why horror bloggers are retards; Rondo Awards; special guests will call in! Plus Heidi bitches about The Oscars; we play funny sound effects."

When I was in preschool my teacher was concerned that I might be a horror blogger. Turned out I was just retarded. Glad I dodged that bullet.

Here's the Blog Talk Radio link. A Facebook Fan Site has also been established HERE.

You can call in during the show at Call-in Number: (646) 929-0545. I'd suggest thinking about what you're going to say before calling ... or run the risk of making my mistake.

This is the reason the
alphabet was invented

Neill Cameron has made the English Alphabet obsolete with his series of illustrations called The A-to-Z of Awesomeness. I think we need to create a whole new alphabet to describe exactly how ... er, awesome this site is. See what I mean. Cameron's already corrupted my vocabulary.

CHECK IT OUT, SEZ I!
