As you've probably noticed there haven't been that many post around here lately. That's because I've been working on a new blog devoted to the cult television show DARK SHADOWS and its anti-hero Barnabas Collins. The website is called The Collinsport Historical Society and features original artwork, classic newspaper and magazine clippings and the occasional interview. Dark Shadows Returns!

I got an interesting e-mail as soon as I awoke this morning. It appears that someone is collecting the old Dark Shadows comics published by Dell in the late '60s/early '70s. Due in May, the hardcover collection is 200+ pages and is just the first in a series that — if successful — will eventually reprint the entire series. A second collection is already listed at Amazon.

That muddy artwork to your left is the cover depicted on the Amazon listing. Amazon is notorious for not uploading accurate covers for their graphic novels, though.

Barnabas Collins and the Mysterious Ghost

Another bit of art from my "book report" collection from when I was about 8 years old. I don't remember if I actually read this book or not, or if it was another last-minute attempt to BS my teacher.

I must not have been very confidant in my artistic abilities, otherwise I wouldn't have felt the need to draw arrows and IDs for the two characters. I wouldn't have been shocked had my teacher added a note reading "Ghost? Really? Do you think I'm stupid?"

Here's an older one: Barnabas Collins by Casey Jones. If I remember correctly this was drawn back at the Charlotte HeroesCon in 1994 on the same day as my Judge Dredd sketch.
